Thaymar Dairy Ice Cream was formed two decades ago by Martin and Thelma Cheetham at Haughton Park Farm.

With 90 pedigree Friesian cows, the introduction of milk quotas led Thelma to look for ways to use surplus milk.  It soon became clear that there was a gap in the market for quality ice cream, so Thelma enrolled at Reaseheath College to learn the art of making ice cream.  Shortly after, Thaymar Dairy Ice Cream was born in 1988.  In the same year, Martin won an award for his dairy cows at Southwell Ploughing Match, and he joked with the local paper that the cow they were photographing made fantastic ice cream. 

Unfortunately five years after Thaymar was formed, Martin lost his life to cancer. The cows were sold, but Thelma carried on the business by buying milk and cream from a farm in Tuxford. Over the last three decades Thaymar has grown from strength to strength, and now supplies farm shops and restaurants throughout the East Midlands and nationally through wholesalers. 

Over 35 delicious flavours of ice cream and sorbets are made using fresh milk, double cream and the finest natural ingredients. As an example, our award winning ‘Elderflower and Gooseberry’ ice cream is made using local Belvoir elderflower cordial and fresh local gooseberries. All flavours are suitable for vegetarians and the majority are gluten free (please ask for allergen advice for further information). All the flavours are tried and tested by the Thaymar team and our loyal customers.
